William Harry Harris
March 6, 1955 – December 30, 2016
Bill was born on March 6, 1955 in Washington, D.C. to Margie Diane (Lukoski) and William Baxter Harris and raised in Alexandria, VA. He moved to Utah in 1975 to ski and attend the University of Utah where he received a Bachelor of Science in Physical Geography. Bill was a dedicated and loyal employee of the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years, took great pride in taking care of his home, and enjoyed camping and spending time outdoors with his wife and two children. Among his favorites were Grand Teton and Glacier National Parks where he was always looking for secluded natural wonders, cold water to enjoy a refreshing dunk, and the ever exhilarating bear sighting.
He passed away unexpectedly on December 30, 2016 at his home in Salt Lake City, UT and is survived by his beloved wife and lifetime partner, Sara (Sally) of over 33 years, son Patrick, daughter Elizabeth, and sister Debbie Wright (husband: David) of Quincy, FL. He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Margie.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 4 p.m. at the City View Memoriam located at 1001 East 11th Avenue in Salt Lake City.
